Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your visit.
Quick answers about appointments, insurance, examinations, and services at Lead Opticals.
How do I book an appointment at Lead Opticals?
You can book an appointment by calling us directly, sending us an email, or using the booking form on our website. We recommend scheduling in advance, especially for specialised services such as OCT or Visual Field Testing.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes. Lead Opticals partners with over 11 health insurance providers including Premier Health, Equity Health, Glico Healthcare, and others. Please visit our Insurance Partners page for the full list, or contact us to confirm your coverage.
How often should I have an eye examination?
We recommend a comprehensive eye examination at least once every one to two years for adults with no known eye conditions. Patients with diabetes, glaucoma, or other chronic conditions may require more frequent monitoring — your optometrist will advise accordingly.
At what age should children have their first eye examination?
Children should ideally have their first eye examination before starting school, around age 3 to 5. Early detection of conditions such as lazy eye (amblyopia) or refractive errors is essential for normal visual development.
What is Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)?
OCT is a non-invasive imaging technology that captures detailed cross-sectional images of the retina. It is particularly useful for diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Do you offer eye care services for corporate organisations?
Yes. We provide tailored corporate eye care programmes including occupational eye health screenings, employee vision assessments, and consultancy for workplace visual standards. Please contact us to discuss a programme suited to your organisation's needs.
Where is Lead Opticals located?
We are located Opposite Kuottam Estate, Oyarifa, in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Our clinic is easily accessible and we welcome patients from across the region.
